Why Adventum
The strength of Adventum Group begins with our breadth of experience. In addition to being experts in business transactional services, the managing director at Adventum Group also has an entrepreneurial background and a broad range of experience in business management of both private and public companies. As a result of this experience, we developed our unique Compass M&A Service methodology that is simply the "right-way" for company owners to professionally approach the sale of their businesses.

Adventum Group recognizes that the owners of most privately held companies focus the majority of their time — as they should — on the daily operations of their business. Their key advisors — such as their attorney and accountant — are only involved as needed for tax, banking, year-end reporting, supplier and customer contracts, etc. They generally do not provide daily operational input. Business owners therefore generally do not have an advisor that helps them plan for an exit or liquidity event. And of course this isn't even a concern until they consider selling their business.

This is the time when a business owner begins to seek out a business intermediary firm. Often that search results in the business owner finding either a Main Street business broker or an investment banking firm. These are two very different types of business intermediary firms. The dilemma for most business owners is that neither the Main Street business broker nor the investment banking firm is the right fit for the sale of their business because one delivers too little value and the other assumes too much.

Main Street Broker
The Main Street business broker approaches the assignment or listing in a similar way to the local real estate broker. They take the listing under a contract that allows them to advertise the business using newspaper advertisements and Internet databases similar to the real estate MLS system. They hope to attract qualified buyers to whom they can present the business and solicit offers. They do little more to prepare the business than create the advertisements and presentation material for the sale of the business. They arrange appointments with buyers, conduct walk-through, solicit offers and hopefully present offers to the owner.

Investment Banks
The traditional investment banking firm is a professional firm comprised of experienced transaction intermediaries that provide several levels of service to business founders and venture capital investors. Their services range from raising capital all the way to Merger and Acquisition (M&A) activity or IPOs. They generally have symbiotic relationships with venture capital firms. The venture firm funds businesses, and based on the opportunity places executive management to build the firm for either an M&A or IPO liquidity event. The investment banking firm is there to take the business to market when the day arrives and the venture investors believe they can gain the maximum return on their investments. The investment bankers have full confidence that the executives at the company have properly prepared the business for the liquidity or exit event.

A Guided Approach
Adventum Group is different than the Main Street business broker or the traditional investment bank. Through our Compass M&A Service, we emphasize value enhancement and the strategic positioning of a company as part of a two-phase process of going to market. We don't bring businesses to market with the approach of a listing agent and we don't assume that the process of properly preparing a business for the liquidity or exit event has already happened. Instead, we utilize our time-proven Compass M&A Service methodology that brings unique value to the business owner by:

1. Allowing you to understand how your business would be viewed from the perspective of a buyer

2. Providing you with the opportunity to make positive adjustments in areas that will impact the value of your business.

Buyers look at many opportunities in the marketplace but will invest their time to look at a company only once.

As a seller, you want your business to be perceived as a quality company that represents one of the best opportunities in the marketplace. You want that perception to lead to multiple offers from the right buyers that are priced at the highest possible range. In addition, you want the transaction to be achieved with the strictest confidence and within the shortest possible timeframe. Adventum Group adheres to our two phase Compass M&A Service simply because, based upon our experience, it is the "right-way" to achieve the best possible outcome for perhaps the most important, and largest, financial event in your life.
